The NetCDA team had a productive and engaging day at the European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2025 (EGU25), participating in session EOS2.6: “Strengthening the European-African collaboration on Capacity Development in Climate Change Impact and Adaptation in Africa.”

The morning session featured nine oral presentations showcasing a range of capacity development projects connecting European and African partners around climate change research, adaptation, and training. It was encouraging to see the diversity of approaches and regional contexts represented, highlighting the potential of ongoing and future collaborations.

In the afternoon, the poster session allowed for deeper conversations and one-on-one exchanges. Many participants expressed interest in learning more about the network and how to get involved.

Later in the evening, we hosted a networking session followed by a splinter meeting, where we discussed the formation of a new network dedicated to supporting and connecting capacity development initiatives across Africa. Both events saw good participation and thoughtful discussion, with several new contacts joining the conversation.

Overall, it was a successful day filled with new connections, insightful presentations, and growing momentum for collaborative efforts.

Thank you to everyone who joined us — we’re looking forward to building on this strong foundation in the months ahead.
