On June 16, 2024, the six WASCAL doctoral students from Hamburg University of Applied Sciences visited the German Climate Computing Center (DKRZ)  in Hamburg as part of the NetCDA project. The DKRZ, a central national service facility for climate and earth system research, offers computing power and storage capacity as well as technical support for model calculations. Michael Böttinger, Head of Visualization and Public Relations, presented the work of DKRZ’s experts and explained how it further improves international climate science. Mr. Böttinger also demonstrated a number of climate simulations, including examples that have been incorporated into current IPCC reports.
