From 9–11 December 2025, the NETCDA network convened at the WASCAL Centre in Lomé, Togo for a productive and forward-looking meeting. Representatives from the German partner universities and African partner institutions joined the discussions, alongside a representative from the DLR PT.

The meeting provided an important opportunity to reflect on Batch 6 of the WASCAL program. Participants exchanged perspectives on key lessons learned, achievements, and opportunities for improvement. Beyond reflection, the focus was strongly oriented toward the future: partners worked collaboratively to outline upcoming priorities, prepare planned activities, and strengthen mechanisms for cooperation within the network.

A central theme throughout the three-day meeting was partnership. The group reaffirmed their shared commitment to continuing and expanding collaboration between African and German institutions, recognizing the program’s value in supporting scientific exchange, capacity building, and long-term research connections.

On the final day, the University of Lomé kindly offered participants an insightful tour through the WASCAL laboratories. The visit provided a closer look into ongoing research in the fields of bioenergy, biofuels, and green hydrogen technology as well as a nice insight into the work of the Lomé WASCAL students.

Of course, after long and productive working days, there was also time for informal exchange. Shared dinners offered a relaxed setting for networking, further discussions, and strengthening the personal and professional relations.

Overall, the event was highly successful. Discussions were constructive, the atmosphere was collaborative, and participants left with more clarity on both next steps and shared goals for the coming years. NETCDA extends its appreciation to all partners for their engagement and contributions, and to the University of Lomé and WASCAL for hosting this meeting.
